I can never get enough of seeing fall colors. There was a day many years ago when my wife, Becky, and I were high in the mountains near Marble, Colorado, watching red-tailed hawks and golden aspen leaves going upward in a spiral of tornadic-like wind currents. It was a sight I will never forget.
In Aspen we are blessed with Indian summer days, cool nights, and hillsides of pines and aspens that change their colors daily. Of course the pines don’t change colors, but the contrast of the dark green conifers and the green aspens, then gold, then pale yellow, then brown, then bare branches….it’s something to cherish. The spectacular colors only last for a few weeks, so getting outside every day is a blessing. I was near a home construction site in Snowmass recently, and I snapped this photo, above.
Our real estate market continues to be strong. We had such a whopping year in 2015, with over 30 homes that sold in excess of $10 Million, that the rumors of “What’s wrong with the market?” were flying this summer when there were only 8 sold above that level. Now the number of sales over $10 Million is at 9, with three more “Under contract”. If that number climbs to 15 by year end, it will be a very good year, indeed.
We have seen all sectors of the market improving, with condos below $2 Million strong and vacant land sales especially strong….and now the average home sale is at $6.8 Million.
